MLB Alumni | Pittsford Mendon Baseball

Danny Mendick is a Pittsford-Mendon High School graduate, and former Major League Baseball infielder whose journey to the highest level of professional baseball was built on perseverance, preparation, and an unwavering work ethic.

A standout at Monroe Community College, Mendick helped lead the Tribunes to a 2013 NJCAA Division II Region III championship while establishing himself as a dependable everyday infielder. He continued his collegiate career at UMass Lowell, where he helped the River Hawks transition to Division I baseball. As a senior, Mendick led the team in RBI, doubles, total bases, and slugging percentage, earned First Team All-America East honors, and was named one of 47 finalists for the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award.

Mendick was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 22nd round of the 2015 MLB Draft. Despite being overlooked early in his career, he steadily climbed the organization’s minor league system, earning promotions from Single-A to Triple-A and gaining valuable experience alongside veteran players. His determination ultimately earned him a spot in the Major Leagues.

Mendick spent six seasons in the big leagues, appearing in 231 career games, including 198 with the White Sox. A versatile defensive infielder, he recorded a .647 career OPS with 13 home runs while contributing at multiple positions around the infield.

In 2025, Mendick began the next chapter of his baseball career by joining the Tampa Bay Rays organization as a minor league coach. His experience as a player, combined with the perspective gained from overcoming obstacles throughout his career, has shaped his approach to teaching and developing the next generation of players. In the fall of 2025 Danny was inducted into the Pittsford Central School District Athletic Hall of Fame.

In 2026, Mendick was named manager of the Charleston RiverDogs, becoming the club’s skipper as he continues his transition from Major League player to coach and leader.

From Pittsford and Monroe Community College to UMass Lowell, the minor leagues, and Major League Baseball, Mendick’s story is one of earning every opportunity through hard work. His experience, leadership, and commitment to player development make him a natural mentor for young athletes pursuing their own baseball dreams.
